What is Cloning?
Have you heard the term cloning? I am sure you know about the sheep cloning which was made popular by British Scientist when they cloned sheep first time. I am not a geek so I am talking about very simple cloning that is used in the internet marketing world.
If you are running a website or a blog, you might have heard of cloning the blog or cloning a website!
Let's explore the cloning further together! If you check the google for the 'what is cloning' term, you can get the definition of cloning.
Here are some definitions:
- In computer science, cloning refers to the making of an exact copy of an object, frequently under the paradigm of instance-based programming, or object-oriented programming(OOP). – As per Wikipedia
- Clone – In computing, a clone is a hardware or software system that is designed to mimic another system. Compatibility with the original system is usually the explicit purpose of cloning hardware or low-level software such as operating systems – Another definition per Wikipedia
- A database clone is a complete and separate copy of a database system that includes the business data, the DBMS software and any other application tiers that make up the environment. … Another cloning definition from Wikipedia
Since I am not a geek, I need to simplify the above definition for the better understanding. In plain english, I think cloning from the internet perspective is simply creating an exact replica of a file or a database or a program!
So what are the types of cloning from the internet marketing perspective?
Types of Cloning:
- Cloning of a Software
- Cloning of a Database
- Cloning of a Website or a Blog
I think you guessed it right! This blog is dedicated for the third type of the cloning i.e. how to clone a blog or how to clone a website. In fact this blog is dedicated purely for the WordPress Cloning as I am a WordPress Guy. The methods and techniques which I will share in the coming days can be used not only for the static websites but also for other blogging platforms. However I don't use other blogging platforms, so it's not possible for me to talk about those here in this blog.
Here is the WordPress Cloning Video I uploaded on the Youtube and you can watch it here:
